Biofuels: The future of Energy
In simple terms, biofuels are such fuels that we get from biomass, i.e, plant, algae, or waste from animalsUnlike fossil fuels such as coal, natural gas and petroleum, biofuel is considered to be a source of renewable energy, because the raw materials used to create them can be replenished readily. They are useful because of their ability to lessen the unwanted aspects of fossil fuel production and use, also conventional and greenhouse gas (GHG) pollutant emissions and other harmful effects on the environment.
World Biofuel Day is celebrated on 10 August every year to spread awareness for the use of non-fossil fuels as an alternative to conventional fossil fuels. By celebrating this day, the international community also honours Sir Rudolf Diesel who invented the diesel engine. Also, he was the first one to predict the use of vegetable oils as an alternative to fossil fuels. By doing an experiment, he was the first one to run a mechanical engine with peanut oil. By celebrating World Biofuel Day,  this stupendous experiment is also revered.
