World Population Day

The world population is officially expected to cross the 8 billion mark, by the end of 2022. Such a growth in #world population has been caused by major changes in mortality rates, fertility rates, increasing urbanisation and migration, according to the UN Reports. There have also been improvements in life expectancy of people.

The implications of changing trends in the population are broad- based. They influence #economic development, #employment, #income distribution, #poverty and #social structure. Population trends also affect efforts to ensure universal access to #healthcare, #education, #housing, #sanitation,#water, #food and #energy. Here, individuals, society and policy makers should find the means to achieve #sustainability for the population living on this planet in the present and in the years to come.
