India also celebrates GST Day on July 1 to commemorate the implementation of Goods and Services Tax which replaced the indirect tax regime in the country. GST was introduced in the country with the idea of One Nation- One Market- One Tax and encompasses a host of indirect taxes such as value-added tax, excise duty, service tax, purchase tax and various others under one roof.
July 1 is also celebrated as Doctor's Day in India. This day happens to be the birth and death anniversary of the most renowned physician of India - Dr Bidhan Chandra Roy who was also the second Chief Minister of West Bengal. He also made a mark as an educationist, social worker and freedom fighter.The nation pays a tribute to his contributions in the healthcare sector in the country by observing July 1 as Doctor's Day.
