July 1, the date is very significant in the Roman Calendar. Chartered Accountants' (CA) day is celebrated on this day  to commemorate the establishment of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) by Parliament in 1949.  The ICAI is an institution which regulates the accounting standards in India and Chartered Accountants have a very important role in the development of our country.

India also celebrates GST Day on July 1 to commemorate the implementation of Goods and Services Tax which replaced the indirect tax regime in the country. GST was introduced in the country with the idea of One Nation- One Market- One Tax and encompasses a host of indirect taxes such as value-added tax, excise duty, service tax, purchase tax and various others under one roof.

July 1 is also celebrated as Doctor's Day in India. This day  happens to be the birth and death anniversary of the most renowned physician of India - Dr Bidhan Chandra Roy who was also the second Chief Minister of West Bengal. He also made a mark as an educationist, social worker and freedom fighter.The nation pays  a tribute to his contributions in the healthcare sector in the country by observing July 1 as Doctor's Day.
