"Doubling tigers is about tigers, about the whole of nature - and it's also about us" - Marco Lambertini, Director General WWF
International Tiger Day is observed on July 29 every year to raise awareness for protecting this endangered species. In 2010, during International Tiger Summit in St. Petersburg, governments of the 13 tiger range countries joined hands to inscribe Tx2 – the international goal to double the number of wild tigers by the year 2022.The main objective of celebrating this day is to create a worldwide system that will be dedicated for conserving tigers and safeguarding their natural habitats. The theme for International Tiger Day 2022 is “India launches Project Tiger to revive the tiger population.” International community should take initiatives to protect tigers in collaboration with regional people and also take strict action against illegal trade and poaching.
