International Day of Families

Families play an important part in the life of an individual. It serves as the first school where one starts to learn about various things. To mark the importance of the families, in 1993, the General Assembly of the United Nations decided in a resolution to observe May 15 of every year as the International Day of Families. Celebration of this day promotes awareness about the economic, social and demographic processes influencing the family dynamics and various issues arising through them. The celebration is done according to a particular theme every year. The theme of International Day of Families 2022 is “Families and Urbanisation" which attempts to raise awareness about the influences urbanisation has brought up in the family-relations and the need to promote such urban policies which could prosper family lives.
